Mining the News: June 3, 2026

**American League

**

  • Angels: Vaughn Grissom is starting at first base and hitting a grand slam with six RBIs in a 10-6 win. He's expected to get the majority of playing time at first base in Nolan Schanuel's absence, with Oswald Peraza and Donovan Walton as options. Manager Kurt Suzuki sees Grissom as a versatile infield player, capable of playing first, second, and third base.

  • Top Prospect Christian Moore: Playing third base and the outfield in AAA, Moore is getting a chance to improve his chances of promotion. He's exclusively played second base in his first two pro seasons but is now splitting time between second and third base.

  • Cal Raleigh: His injury prevented him from swinging from both sides of the plate, and he's struggling to play through it. The switch-hitter has two separate swings to manage, and his injury has made things worse.

  • Brendan Donovan: Will play some outfield when he returns from injury. Top prospect Colt Emerson has taken over at third base, and Donovan will need everyday reps to be a usable fantasy option.

**Orioles

  • Brandon Young: Throws a new splitter pitch, which has improved his results. The pitch has a larger gap in velocity between his splitter and four-seam fastball, and it's his second-most-used pitch.

**Twins

  • Brooks Lee: Moving to third base to allow Kaelen Culpepper to take over at shortstop. The move also creates room for Culpepper at shortstop.

**National League

  • Braves: Michael Harris II has adjusted his stance to increase his bat speed. He's opened his stance, moved up in the box, and increased his average bat speed and fast-swing rate.

  • Dodgers: Justin Wrobleski is adding velocity to his fastball. He's gotten more swings and misses, which has changed his pitching style and improved his K-BB%.

  • Giants: Landen Roupp pitched through a bad back, giving up a career-high eight runs over four innings. Manager Tony Vitello said Roupp's back locked up on him, but he didn't learn about the issue until after the game.

  • Mets: Jorge Polanco's injuries can't get any worse, but he may have to play through pain for the entire season. Mets manager Carlos Mendoza says Polanco is trending in the right direction but may not be 100% healthy.

  • Padres: Gavin Sheets has become a better batter by hitting the ball harder. His bat speed has increased, and his barrel rate and hard-hit rate have improved.

  • Phillies: Top prospect Aidan Miller is dealing with chronic back pain. He's been sidelined all season due to ongoing back pain and is still doing his rehab program.
