The 2026 Silk Road Mountain Race is an off-road cycling race through the mountains of Kyrgyzstan, and the 8th edition promises to be a thrilling event. The race attracts over 230 riders, and the first part of our race rig roundup features the first 60 bikes and riders. Each rig is carefully selected to tackle the challenging route, with a focus on durability, comfort, and efficiency.
One notable participant is Peter Ackermann, who is riding a Scott Scale frame with a Tune rear hub and SON front hub dynamo. His setup includes a RockShox 100mm fork, SRAM chain, and 10-50T Eagle cassette. Ackermann's rig also features a Cane Creek eeSilk suspension seatpost and Exposure Lights front and rear. The GPS device he uses is a Garmin Edge 1040, with the Garmin Fenix 8 as a backup.
Another standout rider is Omar Alvarado, who is riding a Giant XTC Advance with a Fox 32 step cast front suspension. Alvarado's setup includes an upgraded DT Swiss rims and XO1 electronic drivetrain. He also uses a Deda aerobars and Redshift suspension seat post. Alvarado's GPS device is the Wahoo Roam 3, with the Roam 2 as a backup.
Daniel Anzola is another impressive participant, riding the Arc 8 Evolve FS with a 1×12 drivetrain and Duke racing wheels. His setup includes a SON Dynamo hub and Profile Design aerobars. Anzola's GPS device is the Coros Dura, with the Coros Nomad watch as a backup.
